If you love weddings, getting creative, public speaking and taking the lead then this is the perfect course and profession for you. This course will cover everything you need to know to give you the fundamental knowledge of the industry as well as the practical work so you can go out and officiate ceremonies with confidence. This course will take you through every element so even if you are brand new to celebrancy, you will be guided through at your own pace.
You'll begin your journey having a 1-2-1 kick off session with our team. You'll navigate through our training course, watching the training videos, reading through our comprehensive workbooks and filling out the quiz and assignments along the way to cement your learning.
You'll be assigned a mentor - our mentors are not only skilled trainers but highly successful and sought after celebrants so you'll be learning from the best!
After your 1-2-1 sessions and group sessions, you'll be fully prepared to write ceremonies and officiate them!
After each module you will submit your workbooks to your trainer and you'll receive feedback before proceeding on to the next module.
Once you've completed all training modules, you'll then have 1-2-1 coaching with Jennifer to get your business set up and established!
This course is a great mix of self study and group study with our group coaching sessions each month open to students too.
You'll love the flow of the course and having time to work closely and be mentored by already established celebrants is priceless!
As soon as you enrol, you will gain access to the course materials. You must complete each module before the next module will open up.
You can go at your own pace with this course. This is all dependent on how much time you have to put into it and the beauty is, you decide!
It can be done as quickly as a few weeks, or spread out over a few months.
On average students take 4 weeks to complete the course.
Absolutely! We will start with the basics and go on from there. You’ll gain so much fundamental knowledge first that you will be ready (and excited) for each next stage.
Not yet! Currently in the UK, independent celebrants are unable to legally marry couples. However, there is a lot of work being done to get this changed and does not make the popularity of having a celebrant any less!
We are a registered training centre for the National Open College Network, NOCN. During your training, you will be offered the opportunity to update your certification with the AMC and complete the following:
- NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Civil Celebrancy in the UK
- NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Celebrancy: Naming and Couples
The NOCN Level 3 certificate level qualification will need to be completed alongside the Funeral and Naming Training.
The Level 3 Diploma can be completed with this course only.
As this is an external awarding body, there are additional registration and completion costs involved.

Please note, you can complete and run a celebrant business without the NOCN approval so this is not a necessary component to the AMC accreditation.

Yes, you will be certified by The Academy of Modern Celebrancy once you have completed your training. You will receive a certificate, an online badge and a physical badge to show your affiliation and course completion.
Yes, there is an opportunity to shadow a celebrant on the job! This would be an AMC global mentor or trainer. There is a small additional fee for this and will depend on ceremony availability and couple/family consent, but yes, this is a unique opportunity we offer at AMC and we can make this happen!
