The personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect and process the following categories of personal information:

• Identity and contact details, such as your first and last name, email address, and mobile telephone number.
• Information you provide when registering for a webinar, event, or course, including your stated interest in becoming a celebrant and your responses to any questions we ask.
• Records of the consents you have given, including the date and time, the wording you were shown, and which options you selected.
• Communications you send to us by email, messaging, telephone, or our contact forms.
• Payment and billing information where you purchase a course or product (payment card details are processed by our payment providers and are not stored by us).
• Technical and usage information collected automatically when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and how you arrived at and moved through the site. See the “Cookies and analytics” section below.

Our lawful bases for using your information

Under data protection law, we must have a valid lawful basis for processing your personal information. The bases we rely on are:

• Consent — where you have given us clear, specific permission, for example to receive marketing messages by WhatsApp or SMS, or to be contacted by telephone about a Pathway Call. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
• Contract — where processing is necessary to provide a course or service you have purchased, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
• Legitimate interests — where processing is necessary for our legitimate interests in running and improving our business, provided your interests and rights do not override these.
• Legal obligation — where we need to process your information to comply with the law.

Messaging: WhatsApp, SMS, and telephone contact

When you register for one of our webinars or events, you can choose to receive reminder messages by WhatsApp or SMS, and you can separately choose to be contacted by telephone about a Pathway Call. These are optional and rely on your explicit consent.

WhatsApp

Where you consent to receive WhatsApp messages from us, your messages are delivered through the WhatsApp Business Platform, which is operated by Meta Platforms. To send these messages, your mobile number is shared with Meta as part of delivering the service. Meta processes this information in line with its own privacy and messaging policies, which you should review separately. We use WhatsApp to send you reminders and updates relating to the webinar or event you registered for.

SMS

Where you consent to receive reminders by SMS, we send these through our communications provider. We use SMS for the same purpose as WhatsApp: to send you reminders and updates relating to the webinar or event you registered for.

Telephone (Pathway Call)

Where you give your separate consent, a member of our team may telephone you after the webinar to offer a short, friendly Pathway Call to explore whether becoming a celebrant is right for you. We will only call you for this purpose if you have agreed to it. You are under no obligation to take the call and can decline at any time.

Opting out

You can opt out of any messages at any time. Reply STOP to any WhatsApp or SMS message, click unsubscribe in any email, or email us at hello@academyofmoderncelebrancy.com. If you no longer wish to receive telephone contact, simply let us know and we will update our records.

How we record your consent

Because we rely on your consent for marketing and messaging, we keep a record of the consent you have given. For each registration this includes the date and time of your submission, the exact wording of the consent shown to you at the time, and which options you selected. We keep these records so that we can demonstrate that valid consent was given, and to respond to any query from you, from Meta, or from the ICO.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

• Provide and operate our courses, webinars, events, and related services.
• Register you for webinars and events and send you the reminders and updates you have asked for.
• Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
• Where you have consented, contact you about a Pathway Call and send you marketing communications about our courses and offers.
• Improve our website, services, and communications, including through aggregated and anonymised analysis.
• Meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
  Who we share your information wit

We do not sell your personal information.

We share it only where necessary with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf, and only under contracts that require them to protect it. These providers include:

• Our email, SMS, and marketing automation platform (ActiveCampaign).
• Meta Platforms, for the delivery of WhatsApp messages where you have consented to receive them.
• Our website host and form provider (including WordPress and Gravity Forms).
• Our webinar and video conferencing provider.
• Analytics and tag management providers (such as Google).
• Our payment providers, where you make a purchase.

International transfers

Some of our service providers are based outside the United Kingdom, and we ourselves operate internationally. This means your personal information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where we make such transfers, we take steps to ensure your information is protected by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, and to meet any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
