When is the perfect time to invest in your career as a celebrant?

Is it time for a career change? Maybe you are newly retired but would love to meet new and interesting people and earn a salary whilst working part-time? You might be a new mum eager to return to work but looking for a job that will fit your lifestyle and new family. Whatever your reasons for considering a career as a celebrant, we can assure you that training as a celebrant will be one of the most exciting decisions you will ever make. You get to write love stories, meet couples and families and officiate ceremonies at the most poignant moments in life; birth, death and marriage.

So, how do you become a celebrant? Firstly, you need to train to be one. We know this may seem a little daunting and we understand that the current economic climate may have you questioning whether you should take the leap. Trust us; investing in yourself, making yourself an asset and the creator of your destiny – is the best investment that you will ever make.  Investing in yourself allows you to future-proof your income and start a fresh, exciting and entirely rewarding career as a celebrant.

Wedding Celebrant Training Online

The Academy of Modern Celebrancy offers online Celebrant training with a difference. The training with the academy gives you everything you need to become a Celebrant. Nothing is left out, from writing to consultations, personalising to officiating on the day. The academy also trains you in business skills to get you up and running fast.

I’m often asked, “what qualifications do I need to become a Celebrant?”. My answer? You don’t need set qualifications, but you need certain personality traits and a certain amount of confidence. If you love weddings, getting creative, public speaking, and taking the lead, this is the perfect profession for you.

How Much Does It Cost To Become a Celebrant

The cost of becoming a Celebrant in the UK can vary greatly depending on what type of Celebrant training you opt for and whether you opt for online training or a residential course.

A Celebrant training course could cost anywhere between £700 and £3000.

There are other considerations too. You need to set up your business once you have finished training and become certified. You will need a budget for a website, a brand (logo and style) and marketing materials. But remember, these are all worthwhile and important investments into your celebrancy business.

How Much Do Celebrants Earn?

Wedding celebrants in the UK can earn anywhere between £100-£2,000 a ceremony. Of course, it varies greatly depending on the type of ceremony and the type of client you work with. I’ve coached wedding celebrants who have attracted over 100 bookings in a few months resulting in over £60,000!

Funeral Celebrants in the UK can earn between £200-£400 a funeral service.

How much you earn is all dependent on how much work you put into your business. It is crucial to brand your business and market yourself in the right places. Visibility is key! Again, it comes down to investing in yourself and creating the future you want.!

Average Celebrant Salary The UK

In the UK, the average wedding Celebrant can earn between £20,000-£40,000 a year. Still, a poll of The Celebrant Directory Members showed that some could earn as much as £60,000 a year. Also, there are many ways to diversify your business for extra income.

How Long Does It Take To Become A Celebrant

This is dependent on the course you take. For example, the Academy on Modern Celebrancy’s course can take between 2-6 weeks. However, residential courses on becoming a Celebrant can take a week’s full training and then assessments after.

How To Market Yourself as a Celebrant

Marketing yourself as a Celebrant can be done in many different ways. One of the main unique selling points is, of course, you! So the first thing you need to do is have an informative and creative ‘about you’ page on your website. Make sure your personality shines through so you can attract the people that fit in with your style of Celebrancy. Marketing your Celebrant services through blogging is also a great way to expand on the type of Celebrant you are. Add in tips and advice blogs and any inspiration so people can see you at work.

Your social media pages should be informative, creative and up to date! It can be hard to gain photos of each ceremony you lead, so think about how you can expand and use your knowledge as a Celebrant to make creative content

Pinterest can also be a great aid; many people use Pinterest for inspiration, especially when it comes to weddings, so it’s a good idea to be present here too!

Check out your local wedding fairs; these are fabulous for meeting couples and other suppliers. Marketing your Celebrant services through fairs will mean that they can see you and your personality in real life, not just behind a computer screen!

As we have said before – the initial training outlay can seem expensive, but we are happy to announce that we currently have £100 off all of our Academy of Modern Celebrancy training packages (full course purchases only) – enter code GIFT100 at the checkout to receive your discounted celebrant training.
