If your Wedding season (or silly season as it’s known on the inside!) is packed, it’s the perfect time to expand your network. Every wedding is an opportunity to connect with vendors, photographers, florists, and even guests who might need your services in the future. A little extra effort during Silly Season can lead to long-term collaborations and new bookings.
AMC Celebrant Mentor Tara says “Networking at weddings can open so many doors. My top tip is to connect and collaborate with as many photographers and videographers as you can. They LOVE celebrants because we are so flexible with our ceremonies and allow them to do their job freely.
I also ask for the photographer/videographer names on my questionnaire and connect with them ahead of the ceremony as well as on the day.

Self-Care Tips for Celebrants
When you’re running from ceremony to ceremony, it’s easy to forget about your own well-being. But to thrive during wedding season, self-care is crucial. Here’s how to keep yourself feeling fresh and focused:
- Focus on the basics – Hydrate, eat & sleep: Bring a water bottle to every event. Pack healthy snacks like nuts, fruit, and energy bars – prep healthy dinners ahead of time so you’re not tempted to live off of takeaways for the summer, and try and prioritise sleep – it’s easier said than done, but vital for maintaining your energy.
- Set boundaries: Good time management can be an act of self-care and it extends beyond your workload… Don’t forget to schedule in downtime and nourishing quality time with friends and family so you don’t burn out.
- Practice mindfulness: A few intentional breaths or a moment of calm before and after a ceremony can make all the difference.

Summer Wedding Essential Kit
With long, sunny days and outdoor ceremonies, summer weddings require a bit of extra prep. Here’s your must-have list for a smooth, stress-free celebration:
- Waterproof folder for ceremony scripts – just in case those sunny skies take a turn!
- Portable fan – a lifesaver for those sweltering marquee weddings.
- Spare shoes & outfit – comfortable flats for quick sprints across sprawling venues and wellies or waterproof shoes for rainy outdoor ceremonies. A spare outfit is always a good idea too – we know of one Wedding Photographer who accidentally stepped backwards into a lake in the middle of a wedding and had to borrow an outfit from the bridesmaid for the rest of the day!
- First-aid kit – blister plasters, pain relief, hand sanitiser, and tissues.
- Pocket Tissues – whether it’s an emotional groom, an accidental spill, or a hayfever-induced sneezing fit- pocket tissues are always a good idea for any celebrant’s emergency kit!
- An Umbrella – because British weather is predictably unpredictable. This adorable heart-shaped umbrella will protect you from any passing showers and also has UV protection for sunny days.
And don’t forget the slightly more obscure emergency items…
AMC Mentor Marcia Bravo who officiates weddings in Spain recommends carrying a spare dress or item of clothing (in case of spills, splits or disasters), and I wouldn’t be without my trusted Vaseline in my emergency wedding kit!
I put it on my teeth and just slightly on the gums discreetly in an opportune moment before I´m about to officiate my ceremony. It helps to stop my teeth sticking to my lips when I´m officiating and it helps with dry mouth!!
AMC Celebrant Rosalind Miles packs a toothpick and a few sheets of toilet paper – nobody wants to officiate a ceremony with bits in their teeth, and I’ve been to ceremonies where the toilets have run out of loo roll – no celebrant ever wants to be caught short of toilet paper!
