"Just done my first ceremony! Lots of lovely feedback. His family could not make it because they are South African and they were refused permission to come over, so he managed to stream it and when I found out there were only 5 family members watching, I asked the groom for their names and mentioned them ALL saying they were as much a part of this moment even though they couldn't be physically present with us in the room.
One thing I had to think about was that his family are very religious and hers isn't - so they wanted to avoid any references during the ceremony. I had a brainwave to take a moment of thoughtfulness where everybody in their own way could send their love and best wishes to the couple, across the miles and enjoy the power of the unspoken thought. It was a slight risk - but it went down really well. Phew!"

"Finally... after becoming certified for namings in March 2020, I’ve just officiated my first naming ceremony for a non-family member!
The family planted a rose tree, we had painted candles for baby Floralaie’s guideparents who did a unity candle ritual with her symbolising their commitments. I did a little water blessing, lit a candle for her great grandad, presented certificates and my favourite book to her. Typically she slept through the whole thing!
Hope this gives some inspiration / motivation to those studying. Baby namings are my favourite, they’re so special so make sure you do the AMC course which is dedicated to namings! ✨✨✨"
