You’ll start your journey with access to our online course hub, where you’ll complete your video-based training and downloadable workbooks at your own pace.

You will also be invited (read your welcome email) to join a kick-off call where we will run you through the course hub, and you will have the opportunity to meet new students embarking on their journey as well as ask any questions about the training you may have.

Once you've worked through the self-study modules, you’ll be graded before moving into your 1:1 mentorship phase.

This is where the magic really happens!

You'll be paired with one of our experienced mentors — all successful working celebrants — for either 9 or 4 weeks (depending on your course), gaining personalised guidance, real-world insight, and constructive feedback to build your confidence and skills.

Throughout your journey, you’ll also be invited to weekly LIVE group Q&A calls and welcomed into our AMC Student Hub — a private, supportive Facebook community where you can connect with others on the same path.

The course is a powerful mix of flexible self-study and supportive mentoring, designed to set you up for success every step of the way.

As soon as you enrol, you’ll receive your login details via email, and your 12-month access to the course will begin.

You’ll have 12 months from the date of purchase to complete your certification course, giving you plenty of flexibility to study at your own pace.

We recommend completing the self-study portion within 8 months. This allows enough time for your 1:1 mentored training, which runs for a set period (9 weeks for Wedding and Funeral, 4 weeks for Naming) and must also be completed within the 12-month window.

Some students complete the course in just a few weeks, while others spread it out over several months. On average, most take around 3–6 months.

Absolutely! We will start with the basics and go on from there. You’ll gain so much fundamental knowledge first that you will be ready (and excited) for each next stage.

In the UK, celebrancy and the legal registration of marriage are two separate things. Independent celebrants are not currently able to conduct legally binding weddings in England and Wales, regardless of which training provider they choose. That means there is no additional certificate or extra spend that suddenly makes a celebrant’s ceremony legal here. Couples either have a short legal appointment with a registrar, often on a different day, and then choose a celebrant to create and lead their meaningful ceremony, or they choose a registrar-led ceremony for both elements.

Our training focuses on what celebrants actually do in practice: creating and delivering personalised ceremonies for weddings, funerals and namings, and learning how to build a sustainable celebrant business. With that training, yes, you can absolutely become a practising celebrant and start working with real couples and families. Many of our graduates are working celebrants across the UK and internationally.

It is also worth noting that Scotland & Ireland and many other countries work differently, as celebrants there can legally marry couples once authorised through a recognised body, but that is specific to Scottish law and does not apply in England and Wales.

This mentorship lasts 9 weeks for our Wedding and Funeral courses, and 4 weeks for Naming. During this time, you’ll get invaluable insights, individual guidance, and constructive feedback to help you grow in confidence and prepare to graduate as a professional celebrant.

Yes, you will be certified by The Academy of Modern Celebrancy once you have completed your training. You will receive a certificate, an online badge and a physical badge to show your affiliation and course completion.
