The course is entirely online and self-paced. You'll have access to video training, workbooks, and assignments in your own training hub.

You'll be assigned a personal mentor for 1-2-1 support, and you'll attend weekly group Q&A sessions with other students. You can study from anywhere in Scotland at times that suit your schedule.

Not immediately. AMC training gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to write and deliver professional ceremonies, but the legal authority to marry couples in Ireland comes from being registered as a solemniser through the General Register Office, not from any training provider.

To legally marry couples, you would need to be a member of a recognised religious or belief-based organisation that is registered with the General Register Office. That organisation can then apply for your individual registration as a solemniser once you have gained experience and met their criteria.

No. Ireland recognises both religious and non-denominational (secular or belief-based) organisations. Non-denominational organisations include groups like Enthios, the Humanist Association of Ireland, and the Spiritualist Union of Ireland.

As long as the organisation is registered with the General Register Office, its approved members can be registered as solemnisers and legally marry couples.

Yes, absolutely. Many independent celebrants in Ireland (and across the UK) choose to focus on non-legal symbolic ceremonies that are every bit as meaningful and personal. 

Couples simply complete the legal paperwork with a registrar – often in a short appointment before or after the ceremony – and then hold their full celebrant-led wedding wherever and however they wish.

These symbolic ceremonies offer complete creative freedom: you can include any religious prayers, cultural traditions, symbolic rituals, and personal touches that matter to the couple. Registry office ceremonies in Ireland cannot include any religious content, which is why many couples who want to honour their heritage choose to work with celebrants.

Ireland is also a popular destination for Vow Renewals and Destination Weddings where the couple have completed the legal marriage paperwork in their home country.

On average, most people take around 3–6 months to complete their celebrant training.

You’ll have 12 months from the date of purchase to complete your certification course, giving you plenty of flexibility to study at your own pace.

We recommend completing the self-study portion within 8 months. This allows enough time for your 1:1 mentored training, which runs for a set period (9 weeks for Wedding and Funeral, 4 weeks for Naming) and must also be completed within the 12-month window.

Some students complete the course in just a few weeks, while others spread it out over several months. 

While there are no legal requirements for formal qualifications in Ireland (except for registered solemnisers), professional training is essential for success.

Many wedding venues and most funeral directors require evidence of training before working with you. The Academy of Modern Celebrancy training meets NOCN certification standards and is recognised across the UK, Ireland, Europe, and internationally.

Throughout the self-study portion of your course, you’ll work through modules at your own pace. Once you complete these, you’ll receive personalised feedback on your work — and then you’ll be paired with your mentor to begin your 1:1 mentorship.

This mentorship lasts 9 weeks for our Wedding and Funeral courses, and 4 weeks for Naming. During this time, you’ll get invaluable insights, individual guidance, and constructive feedback to help you grow in confidence and prepare to graduate as a professional celebrant.

Yes, you will be certified by The Academy of Modern Celebrancy once you have completed your training. You will receive a certificate, an online badge and a physical badge to show your affiliation and course completion.

As soon as you enrol, you’ll receive your login details via email, and your 12-month access to the course will begin.
