At the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, we understand the excitement and trepidation surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) in our industry. As celebrants, we pride ourselves on creating unique, heartfelt ceremonies that capture the essence of the individuals we serve. So, where does artificial intelligence fit into this deeply personal craft? Read on for our AI for Celebrants guide…
The Celebrant’s Dilemma: To AI or Not to AI?
The relationship between celebrancy and technology isn’t black and white. While we firmly believe that ceremony scripts should remain the product of human creativity and empathy, we also know that AI can provide valuable support in other areas of your business.
As a celebrant, your uniqueness is your greatest asset. The personal connection you forge with clients, your ability to read between the lines of their stories, and your creative interpretation of their wishes—these are irreplaceable human skills that set you apart. So where should you use AI and when should you avoid it? Our team shares their thoughts:
Where We Draw the Line: Scripts vs Support
Why we’ll never use AI for scripts – ever
No one is you, and that is your superpower.
At AMC, we have strong feelings about using AI in creating scripts – for us, it’s an absolute no! The joy of Celebrancy is in the unique celebrations we create and the individual stories we tell.
As AMC Student Manager Penny Boycott puts it “In celebrancy, originality is key, every ceremony should be crafted with care, reflecting the clients unique story.”

As celebrants, we’re experts at discerning the nuance in people’s experiences, emotions and relationships. We can listen to someone speak for hours and hone in on the truth or depth of feeling in one sentence – AI can’t do that.
We also know that creativity is like a muscle that gets stronger the more you use it – for us, using AI for creative writing and scripts promises a steady decline in creativity and a quick step towards homogenisation of an industry that thrives on diversity.
As tempting as it is to use AI for ease and speed, over-reliance on AI risks eroding your creative skills and removing the competitive advantage of ‘being you’, and because AI sources content from countless places, you may also be unknowingly committing plagiarism by using AI, an unacceptable practice for any professional celebrant.
With all that being said, we’re not completely against the use of AI. Scripts aside, there are some great use cases for getting a helping hand from AI…
Authentic sounding marketing materials
AMC’s Chief Operating Officer Chanelle Segerius Bruce was an early adopter of Claude.ai and has been using Claude for her own business and her private coaching clients.
Chanelle says, “AI is great if, like me, you’re not a natural writer. I like to talk things out and talk through ideas, so I’ll often record my musings and then ask Claude to turn the transcript into blogs, emails or social media posts. You could also turn podcast interviews into content this way.”
“What I love about Claude is that it’s possible to train it in your own voice. So you can use it to create authentic-sounding marketing materials in minutes – everything from blogs, emails, welcome packs, bios, social media posts etc.
I’ve trained Claude in my client’s voice to create authentic social media content, sales pages, email sequences, even podcast and video scripts. The use cases are almost infinite.”
Video to Social Media Posts
AI can adapt to your strengths, so if you’re more comfortable recording videos, you could record videos, use a tool like Otter.ai or Glasp to transcribe it and then use Claude.ai or ChatGPT to turn the transcript into a series of social media posts.
Talk it out – voice notes to content.
Claude.ai now includes a dictation setting in its mobile app, which is great for this. Alternatively, you can use the voice-to-text function in Google Docs or Otter.ai.
If you’re technically minded, Chanelle has shared her free guide to using Claude voice to text for desktop apps.
AI Photography for Celebrants
To use or not use AI photography? The jury is out on this one. On one hand, AI offers a cheaper, quicker, and easier way to achieve professional brand photography than ever before.
On the other hand, AI has a way of tweaking our likeness to become a little bit less like ourselves and a bit more like an eerily similar doppelganger. Plus, it’s hard to recreate the energy and magic that the creative collaboration of a styled shoot can bring.
Our view is that if it provides you with access to professional-looking photos that you otherwise couldn’t afford, then it’s a useful tool for Celebrants on limited budgets.
Although, don’t forget that the creative process of planning your own brand photoshoot with a photographer in a beautiful location can bring clarity and galvanise your brand in a way that an AI shoot never will.
AI Photography for Celebrants: Chantal’s Perspective
We asked Chantal Marie-Laurence Edouard-Betsy, a digital entrepreneur and web and tech guru at AMC and The Celebrants Studio, about her views on using AI-generated photography in your celebrant business.
“For celebrants juggling consultations, ceremony writing and weekend events, AI photography offers a brilliant solution to our content challenges. Traditional photoshoots—with their costs, preparation time and limited outputs—simply can’t meet the demands of modern social media. AI is just another tool in our professional kit, like Grammarly or Canva.
The most authentic approach? Use whatever helps you serve your clients better, whether that’s AI-generated images showing you in different ceremony settings, professional headshots, casual selfies, or ideally, a thoughtful blend of all three. Don’t let anyone’s judgment stop you from showing up your way.
As celebrants, you champion personalisation for our clients. You deserve that same freedom in how you present yourself online.” — Chantal Marie-Laurence Edouard-Betsy, AMC & The Celebrants Studio
Practical Tip: Explore tools like Canva’s AI Headshot Generator to transform everyday selfies into professional-looking images that showcase your celebrant style across different seasons and settings.
Our favourite AI tools – and their uses
- Otter.ai is great for creating transcriptions of online meetings, summarising talking points and creating a list of action points
- Grammarly is helpful for checking spelling and grammar – be careful if using it with creative writing as it can remove stylistic elements and leave it sounding a bit flat and formal.
- ChatGPT is one of the best-known AIs out there. ChatGPT is great for a multitude of uses. ChatGPT’s new deep research function is a helpful tool for researching topics and filtering multiple sources in seconds. Just be sure to cross-reference your research for accuracy.
- Gemini (Google’s AI formerly known as Bard) is helpful for suggesting website site map suggestions, SEO and Keyword research.
- Claude.ai can be trained in your tone of voice, it’s great for writing your website copy, crafting email sequences and client welcome packs and marketing copy and materials
- Opus clip is nothing short of magic. This video editing software uses AI to create short-form Reel-length from longer videos in seconds. It’s incredible if you have a longer interview that you want cut into shareable sound bites – it does all the hard work for you, and there’s a free version available.
- Glasp is a free Google Chrome extension that will summarise and transcribe YouTube videos in seconds using ChatGPT.
Embracing Technology While Staying True to Your Craft
The key is balance—using technology to handle repetitive tasks that drain your energy while preserving your creative resources for what truly matters: crafting meaningful ceremonies that celebrate life’s most precious moments.
At AMC, we believe in equipping celebrants with tools that enhance their natural talents rather than replace them. AI can help you manage your business more efficiently, create consistent marketing materials, and maintain a professional presence—freeing you to focus on the deeply human work of connecting with clients and creating ceremonies that resonate.
To those Celebrants who are worried that AI will negatively impact the industry we’d say this: In an industry that thrives on human connection, emotion and empathy, the machines aren’t taking over anytime soon.
